Township: Council sends proposal for 35-acre project back to staff
Residents fret about wind damage if trees are removed.

A major rezoning in the East Gordon area was deferred by the Township council Monday night.
The 299-unit project slated to cover 14 hecatres (35 acres) was sent back to Township staff to address concerns that were raised by the site's neighbours at a public hearing earlier in the month.
The land is largely forested, and slopes from north to south between 208th St. and 210th St. south of 72nd Ave.
Residents were worried about wind damage to trees after the forest on the site is removed, about flooding problems caused by runoff, and about privacy issues.
Some residents wanted to know whether they would be liable if a tree from their land fell on a house, or even a person, in the new development.
The Township staff will report on the matters at a future council meeting.
The next regular Township council meeting is scheduled for Dec. 11.
