The changing role of the real estate professional

Changing times have impacted the way that real estate professionals service their customers.  However, the constant is that outstanding customer service never goes out of style.

There's an old saying that 'The more things change, the more they stay the same.'  This is certainly true of real estate.  Changing times have impacted the way that real estate professionals service their customers.  However, the constant is that outstanding customer service never goes out of style.  Simply put, the best way that a real estate professional can deliver value to a customer is by giving the customer what they want.  However, the key to doing that effectively is to understand how the consumer defines that value.  Research shows that a customer primarily defines value, not in terms of activities or incentives, but rather by the personal interaction and relationship with their realtor. Characteristics such as trust and integrity consistently placed in the forefront of the consumer's 'wish list' for a realtor for both buyers and sellers

How then, does a realtor earn and inspire that trust? In a word - Communication.  And this communication must be timely, relevant and ongoing in order to build trust and demonstrate value to the consumer.

Today's fast-paced technology has raised the bar in terms of the customer's expectation for response times.  In a marketplace where the vast majority of consumers now start their home search on the internet, the consumer expects and demands a speedy response with quality information.  Moving forward, specialized knowledge will play an even greater role in how the realtor services their customers.  The realtor's role is no longer that of a provider of information, but rather as the interpreter of the overwhelming amount of information that now inundates the consumer.  The realtor adds value by helping the customer to understand the process and interpret the vast amount of data available.  This trend will create an even greater need to stay abreast of new developments in today's industry and the market, so specialized training will move more to the forefront of the successful sales professional's agenda.

Knowledge based communications will need to be reinforced with relationship-building programs that create more opportunities for contact with the customer before, during and after the transaction.  The Schacter Team believes in delivering full service to the consumer.  We provide sellers with a suite of value-added services that can save them time and money at a time when both are stretched to the limit.  Offering timely service that goes beyond the bounds of the traditional real estate transaction is an essential part of the changing role of today's real estate professional.
