House sales' middle path
June house sales in Metro Vancouver charted a middle path between the highs of 2009 and the doldrums of 2008, the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver said Monday.
Housing sales plunged 30.2 per cent to 2,972 last month from 4,259 in June 2009 -- which had been the second highest selling June on record, the board said. Last month's sales, however, were up 22.6 per cent from the same month in 2008.
The benchmark price for all residential properties in Metro Vancouver rose 11.8 per cent to $580,237 last month from $518,855 in June 2009.
